With the 2016/2017 season coming to an end, QSL online has decided to look back on the definitive moments that shaped the campaign. Today, we are looking back on the QSL coaches of the month over the course of the season.

Al Shahania coach Jose Fernando was the first coach to pick up the best coach award, which covered the opening games of the season over the months of September & October. The Portuguese tactician made a solid start in the QSL with the newly promoted Al Shahania. Falling to only one defeat in five games Fernando’s side scored six goals and conceded seven games.

Moving into November and El Jaish boss Sabri Lamouchi completed a player and manager of the month double for his side. The soldiers were flying high in the league, and the French tactician guided them to a three game undefeated streak in the month, whilst Jaish scored five goals and conceded three goals over the same period.

Al Sadd’s veteran tactician Jesualdo Ferriera scooped the coach of the month award for December, as the Wolves stormed into the lead in the QSL standings. The Portuguese coach oversaw an undefeated December for Al Sadd, with his side picking up four wins and one draw over the month, whilst Al Sadd scored an impressive eighteen goals and conceded just two over the month.

A new year meant a new coach of the month, and Lekhwiya coach Djamel Belmadi claimed the crown for January. The Red Knights reigned supreme at the turn of the year, posting four wins and one draw over the month. A tally of twelve goals scored and just five conceded gave the top award to the Algerian boss.

February and March Saw Umm Salal coach Mahmoud Jaber claim the award for the first ever time.  The Egyptian coach had turned around the fortunes of his side, remaining undefeated in the month picking up two wins and three draws. This included an impressive 3-1 win over league leaders Lekhwiya.

The final player of the coach award for April went again Lekhwiya coach Belmadi. The Red Knights went all the way to lift the QSL falcon shield. The Algerian coach oversaw two wins and a draw from the final campaign that ensured Lekhwiya won the league by a two point margin.
