Al Markhiya’s new coach Adel Sellimi said he wanted to start off with a win when they host Al Khor in Week 17 of the QNB Stars League at the Al Arabi Stadium on Saturday.

“In my first match in charge, I certainly want to win and get full points. Both teams have good players. I have watched Al Markhiya’s matches and the team can perform well. A victory will greatly boost the players’ confidence,” said Sellimi.

“Al Khor have been doing well of late unlike in the first phase, where they did not have a good run. We can achieve a positive result by staying focused and putting up a disciplined performance.

“We are facing strong opponents in our next game and we will seek to win to strengthen our chances to stay in the top flight,” he added.

Sellimi has coached some Tunisian clubs and had technically been involved with his national team. The 45-year-old replaced Yousef Adam after Al Markhiya had parted ways with him following their 2-3 loss to Al Kharaitiyat in Week 16 of the QNB Stars League.

Al Markhiya are languishing at the bottom of the table with eight points and staring at relegation with six matches remaining.
