Qatar U-23 National Team coach Jose Angel Lacunza spoke to the media ahead of their 2026-2027 season Jetour League Week 3 match against Al Waab.

“The focus is currently on the next match, while simultaneously preparing for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games. The final squad for the tournament has not yet been determined.

“I am satisfied with the team’s performance in the last two matches, despite the short preparation period and the return of some players from injury. The team demonstrated commitment, discipline and cohesion, while also acknowledging the potential for further development and improved results.

“I praise the experiences of several players in Europe, considering them valuable in gaining new experiences and becoming familiar with different training and playing styles,” said Jose Angel Lacunza.

Qatar U-23 National Team goalkeeper Abu Bakr Hassan said, “I am committed to working with the coaching staff to address mistakes and deliver a better performance against Al Waab. Competing in Jetour League provides regular competitive matches that contribute to enhancing the players’ readiness.”
