Al Shorta of Iraq twice came from behind to defeat Al Duhail 3-2 in their Group B match of 2025-2026 AFC Champions League Elite at the Zawra Stadium in Baghdad on Monday.
Bouly Junior Sambou sensationally scored two goals within a minute (57th and 58th minutes) for the hosts, who are out of contention for the next round, after Bassam Shakir had got them an equaliser in the 19th minute. The result secured their first win of the tournament and moved them to five points, having won one and drawn two.
Al Duhail had gotten the opener through Krzysztof Piatek in the 10th minute before Benjamin Bourigeaud restored their lead from the spot in two minutes of added time in the first half.
The Red Knights, however, were unable to hold on to their lead in the second half, enabling Al Shorta to stage a comeback for the win. The result leaves Al Duhail in seventh place in the West Zone standings, with eight points, and their chances of progression into the Round of 16 hang in the balance, depending on the results from other fixtures on Tuesday.
