Round 16 of Qatar Stars League witnessed the continuation of the top four teams staying in their positions. Lekhwiya stayed at the top alone after defeating Al-Gharafa 3-2 in a tough match.<br />

Al-Gharafa was the victim of defensive mistakes as they were losing by three goals at half time in their encounter with Lekhwiya. In the second half they came back strong before two goals but the final whistle came too soon for the Cheetahs. With this loss Al-Gharafa chances to enter the top four decreased as they stay in 6<sup>th</sup> with 23 points, whilst Lekhwiya increased their points to 37, putting them two points ahead of Al-Sadd who drew with Al-Wakrah 2-2.<br />

Al Wakrah showed their fans a great performance with many goal-scoring opportunities but ended in a tie leaving Al-Sadd second with 35 points and Al-Wakrah in the 12<sup>th</sup> place.<br />

Al Kharaitiyat lies in 11<sup>th</sup> after defeating Al Shahania, the second last team in the league table, (4-0). <br />
<br />
El Jaish kept their solid position in 3<sup>rd</sup> with a win over Al-Arabi 2-0, in a thriller that was determined in its final ten minutes when Ahmed Fathi was sent off in the 64<sup>th</sup> minute.<br />

Qatar SC also achieved an important victory over Al Sailiya with two goals to Sailiya’s one, which kept the Kings in 4<sup>th</sup> spot with 28 points whilst Al Sailiya is currently in 8<sup>th</sup> with 20 points.<br />

Umm Salal enhanced their chances of entering the top four with a big win over Al-Shamal 5-0. Now Umm Salal is fifth with 26 points while Al-Shamal is at the bottom of the table.<br />
<br />
Al-Khor defeated Al Ahli 4-2, this win enabled the Knights to move one step forward into 9<sup>th</sup> place. The loss for the Brigadiers saw the termination of Al Ahli Head Coach Machala.
