Newly crowned QSL Champions Lekhwiy gained a important 2-1 victory over Esteghlal Khouzestan on Monday and leapfrog their opponents into top spot in Group B of the AFC Champions League.<br />

Esteghlal Khouzestan raced in front after just nine minutes thanks to a drilled shot from Aloys Nong. The visitors’ advantage did not last long, as South Korean international Nam Tae Hee curled the ball in from distance on the 33<sup>rd</sup> minute. By the stroke of half-time, Lekhwiya took the lead as Qatari international Almoez Ali took advantage to bundle home a cross after more fine work by Nam on the left flank.<br />

The result see’s the QSL side head to the top of the table, after inflicting Khouzestan’s first defeat of the AFC Champions League campaign.
