1. Alain Dioko- Breaks personal goals record
Back in the very first coloumn of ‘5 things we learnt’ we boldly predicted Al Ahli’s Congolese striker would easily break his personal goal scoring record. We even wrote a piece on how the striker’s goals have propelled his side up the table, with a chance of Qatar Cup qualification.

However this humble column was blown away by the performance of the 28 year old and his <a href="http://www.qsl.com.qa/en/News/view/9421/al-ahli-holds-out-against-wakra… minute hat-trick against Al Wakrah. Each goal typified the striker’s man of the match performance. Direct, robust play finished off with clinical efficacy. With his personal record broken, Dioko will perhaps be looking to the QSL all time scorers record of 27 goals in a season which is currently held by Al Gharafa’s former Brazilian striker Clemerson.

It would be no surprise therefore if the Congolese marksman finds the remaining 5 goals in the last four rounds of the season. Pushing his side Al Ahli to hopefully qualify for their first ever Qatar Cup.
2. First win for Shamal
So finally after 22 rounds of action, Al Shamal grabbed their <a href="http://www.qsl.com.qa/en/News/view/9417/al-shamal-earn-first-qsl-victor… win of the QSL season.Dragan Cvetkovic’s side started well with striker Moumouni Dagano scoring in the 11th minute. From then on in, Shamal produced a fantastic defensive display to shut out Al Khor who had an incredible 21 shots on goal to ensure all three points for the QSL’S bottom side.

There is no time to for the Musketeers to savor their first win of the season, as they have to prepare for a tough away match against Al Gharafa in round 23.

3. Wolves winless in three
Perhaps the upset of round 22 came as Al Sadd lost to an in-form Qatar SC side <a href="http://www.qsl.com.qa/en/News/index/#/en/News/view/9410/in-from-harbaou…;. Having also dropped points from winning positions against Al Ahli & Al Sailiya, Sadd are now 7 points behind title rivals Lekhwiya.

With just four rounds to go it does seem that the title is for The Red Knights to loose. One crumb of comfort for Sadd is their AFC Champions League campaign. They are currently sitting top of group C and face Uzbekistani side Locomotive on Tuesday evening.
4. Al Kharaityat improving all the time
Al Kharaityat have revitalized ever since Bosnian head coach Ammar Osim took charge of the struggling QSL side. The Thunders have now jumped up to ninth place in the QSL, thanks to a dramatic last minute winner from striker Yahia Kebe. This is thanks to the change of tactics implemented by the former JEF United coach.

The move to a more counter attacking style has hugely benefitted the side, with both Osim and Jordanian striker Hassan Abdul Fattah grabbing the <a href="http://www.qsl.com.qa/en/News/view/9349/february-qsl-player-of-the-mont… of the month &<a href="http://www.qsl.com.qa/en/News/view/9350/february-qsl-coach-of-the-month…; manager of the month for February. The thunders will be looking to consolidate their mid-table status away to Qatar Sports Club in round 23 but it won’t be easy as they too have been in scintillating form.

5. Al Arabi back on track
At the start of the season Al Arabi looked like one of the favorites to finish in the top 4 of the QSL. Having looked invigorated with a new head coach, and a host of exciting summer signings however a run of poor results lead to the dismissal of head coach Dan Petrescu. Uruguayan coach Daniel Carreño has since taking the reins and is now seeing the results take shape.

The Dream Team are now finding their feet under the former head coach of Al Nassr Saudi Arabia. Last night’s tight <a href="http://www.qsl.com.qa/en/News/view/9419/al-arabi-scrapes-past-shahania-… victory over Al Shahania wasn’t the most inspiring 90 minutes of football but the result leaves Arabi unbeaten in four matches. They face a tough challenge when they welcome leaders Lekhwiya to the Grand Hamad stadium in round 23.
