
After some highly competitive games in the group stages it’s now time for the round of 16 play offs in 2017 Workers’ Cup. There will be 16 matches played this Friday March 17 from 8am at the QFA Al Thumama fields featuring all 32 teams. This year competition has been split into two divisions, the “Champions Trophy”, which will feature teams who finish first and second in their group and the “Shield Plate”, which will feature teams who have finished third and fourth in their respective groups.
So far, in the fifth edition of the tournament, 48 matches have been played with close to 9000 spectators attending in total. The spectators had plenty to cheer about with 268 goals scored so far in the competition.
The 8:00am kick offs in the Champions Trophy round of 16 will see Group A winners Nakheel landscapes go up against Group B runner ups G5 Security. First place in Group C, Taleb Group will be playing 2nd placed in Group D, Mowasalat Qatar. Group E leaders Larsen & Toubro will face Group F second seeds Al Balagh L&T. Group G front runners Outlook will go head to head against Group H runner ups G4S Qatar.
At 12:30pm, Group A runner ups Shapoorji Pallonji will face Group B winners ALYSJ. Second seeded in Group C, Arab Coast projects take on Group D winners, Al Asmakh facilities. Group E runner ups Doha Pest Company will go up against Group F winners, Desert line Projects and Group G runner ups AALCO Group will go head to head against Gulf Contracting.
In the “Shield Plate” games starting at 9:30am, Galfar Al Misnad, ranked third in Group A take on AKTOR S.A., ranked fourth in group B. TRAGS Qatar (third in Group C) face Al Balagh (fourth in Group D). QDVC (third in Group E) take on DICO-Tech Qatar (fourth in Group F) and DULSCO Qatar (third in Group G) face AGME (fourth in Group H).
The 2:00pm kick offs in the Shield Plate Play Offs will see BOTC Qatar (fourth in Group A) face DELTA Doha Corporation (third in Group B). BOOM Construction (fourth in Group C) are up against (third in Group D) Cofely Besix Mannai. TANZIFCO (fourth in Group E) will face MEDGULF Construction (third in Group F) and NAAAS Group (fourth in Group G) go head to head against Carillion Qatar (third in Group H).
General admission to all Workers’ Cup matches is free and everyone is encouraged to attend and cheer on the participating teams.
