The fourth edition of the Workers Cup competition came to a thrilling conclusion on Friday evening when Taleb Group edged out Gulf Construction Co 3-1 in a penalty shootout. The match brought to a close the fourth edition of the tournament, which witnessed plenty of excitement for fans and players.

Twenty four teams signed up for the 2016 edition of the Workers Cup, the most teams today to have partaken in the competition. All Sides had signed the Workers Welfare Charter, which guarantee’s the welfare of the workers who are employed by the company.

The Opening ceremony saw 6,500 people at Qatar SC stadium to see AALCO Group lose 5-0 to a dominant Nakheel landscapes. The remaining matches all the way up to semifinal saw the matches being played at the QFA technical committee pitches every Friday morning.
Aside from a feast of football, all the workers and fans in attendance had the opportunity for free health checks, food and drink during the match events at the QFA technical committee pitches.



The biggest moment of the 2016 Workers Cup came in the semifinals came when they man at the very top of the World Game Gianni Infantino came to watch at the QFA technical committee pitches. The newly elected FIFA president was in Qatar as part of a two day visit to the country. Team members and fans of both sides got a unique opportunity to meet the head of Fifa.



The tournament concluded with the final two matches of the competition being played at Al Ahli stadium. Over 11,000 fans witnessed Mowsalatt edging out Larsen & Tourbo 1-0 to claim third place in the competiton. Whilst in the final game Taleb Group edged out Gulf Construction Co 3-1 in a penalty shootout.

The decisive spot kick from Captain Mohammed Gamal drew ecstatic celebrations from fans in team mates alike. The Workers Cup is set to return for its fifth edition of the tournament next season.
