Umm Salal Sports Club has refrained from participating in the 2015/16 GCC Club Championship in order to focus on domestic competitions. H.E. Sheikh Tamim Bin Mohamed Al Thani, Head of Football at Umm Salal, said in a statement that the club appreciated being considered for the prestigious competition but want to improve on their 6^th place finish last year in the Qatar Stars League.<br />

The Qatar Football Association contacted Umm Salal Sports Club inviting them to participate officially in the 31^st GCC Club Championship but after declining the QFA will now have to consider other clubs to represent the QSL next season.
