QSL side Umm Salal has unveiled the signing of Moroccan international striker Mounir El Hamdaoui. The former AZ Alkmar star has signed a six month deal with the Orange Fortress.

It is thought that El Hamdaoui will replace Iranian international midfielder Andranik Teymourian who has returned to his homeland. The Rotterdam born forward has played for a host of top sides in Europe including Ajax, Florentina and Malaga.

The 6ft striker has also been capped at international level, playing a total of sixteen times for Morocco, grabbing three goals for the Atlas Lions.

Umm Salal will be hoping that Hamdaoui can hit the ground running for his new side, Salal have been relying heavily on the goals of Ivorian striker Yannick Sagbo. With the Orange Fortress just outside of the Qatar Cup places in fifth, they know that goals from Hamdaoui could push them up into the top four for the first time in their history.
