In a topsy-turvy affair at the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium Umm Salal took all three points from Al Gharafa.

Qatari Moayed Hassan opened the scoring on the 10th minute for Al Gharafa but Umm Salal responded with a goal of their own in 21st minute courtesy of Ismail Mahmoud Mardanli.

The first half ended even with both teams registering a goal each.

After the break Ismail Mahmoud Mardanli got his second of the game and put Umm Salal into the lead for the first time in the game. He was assisted by teammate Mohammad Sayed.

Then the Umm Salal front man Ismail Mahmoud Mardanli got his third goal of the game, giving his side a two goal cushion (64’).

Tamer Jamal Othman just two minutes later put the game beyond doubt with his finish to put Umm Salal 4-1 in front. At this point the game looked to be smooth sailing for the Orange Fortress but Gharafa hadn’t giving up.

Eventually Lissandro restored some pride for Ghrafa in the 72nd minute and gave his side some hope, the score line was now 4-2.

The Cheetahs continued to rally late on when from a set piece delivery the Argentine forward Lissandro was at it again with his second goal of the game, making it 4-3 in the 91st minute.

The last minute scare however didn’t materialize into a 4th goal for the visitors as in the end the boys in orange did just enough to secure all three points.
