Sixth-placed Umm Salal will take on struggling Al Kharaitiyat on Sunday with an aim of climbing up the points ladder.

The round 13 Qatar Stars League (QSL) clash between the two sides will take place at Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium.

Umm Salal coach Bulent Uygun said his team is keen on adding to their tally of 21 points from 12 matches.

"Our aim is to be among the top four teams and for that to happen we must collect points We must defeat Al Kharaitiyat," Uygun said on Saturday.

"Qatar Stars League has very strong sides battling to stay at the top," he said.

"These teams stumbled at the beginning of the league but they have improved now. These teams might play to our advantage as we are looking forward to grabbing an AFC Champions League spot," Uygun said.

The coach said his team is confident having beaten third-placed El Jaish in their last game.

“Defeating El Jaish team during the previous round gave us a huge boost," Uygun said.

"The team exhibited a classy performance and took the lead with three goals but unfortunately we retreated and conceived two goals," he added.

“We have some missing players such as Rami Fayez and Wilton, but we will bring in players to aid us," Uygun said.

When asked about his playing combination for the Sunday clash, Uygun
said: “I have my considerations for each and every game as we treat each opponent in a special manner. But we field the best side that could help us win a game."

Al Kharaitiyat coach Amar Osim sounded wary of the opponents on Sunday.

“We know that our opponents are one of the best teams in the QSL.
Their team rarely loses even if they play the odd bad game," Osim said on Saturday.

“We are aware of what’s awaiting us. I feel we should play a similar attacking game," he said.

"I have watched their previous two games. They have many strengths and weaknesses. The league is very tough with each team seeking to knock-out the others,” Osim said.

"What I have said about Umm Salal is true and I don’t complemented them. They have distinguished players and achieved positive results during the recent period including defeating El Jaish in the previous round,” he said.

"My team is in danger but we are relatively far from the relegation zone and we are seeking to improve our standing," Osim said defiantly.

Al Kharaitiyat are placed 11th on points table.

The game kicks off at 18:30.
