Syria beat China 3-1 to boost their chances of reaching the quarter-finals.
 
Liao Lisheng gave China the lead with a free-kick at Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium, but Syria hit back after goalkeeper Du Jia’s sending off.
 
Omar Kharbin converted from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time before putting Syria in front early in the second half. Mahmood Al Baher sealed the win in the 83rd minute to put the Syrian campaign back on track following their opening 2-0 defeat to Iran.
 
Syria will need a positive result against hosts Qatar to qualify of the last eight, while China will need to beat Iran to have any chance of going through. Both games will kick off at 7.30pm on Monday.
