El Jaish caused a stir in the transfer market when it was announced that the Uzbek - Rashidov would be joining El Jaish for the 2015/16 season in the Qatar Stars League. Rashidov impressed in the Asian Champions League against QSL opponents last year and also his domestic form for FC Bunyodkor was showing plenty of promise. He arrived to El Jaish on July 9 2015 for 2.1 million $.

In the 2014/15 season for Uzbek side FC Bunyodkor, Rashidov scored 15 goals, with 10 of them coming in league matches. He became his side’s top goal scorer for the season and was reportedly being monitored by Inter Milan at the time also.

One of Uzbekistan’s top young talents
The young Uzbek is simply one of the top players on the continent, with his raw pace and agile attributes, he looks dangerous every time the ball is at his feet. He is also an extremely intelligent ball player.

Rashidov is the real deal, not just a young talent or an impact sub, the winger comes up with the goods again and again. He delivers on the big occasions too, be it both domestically and for the National Team.

He has become a regular with the Uzbek National Team and featured prominently in the 2015 Asian Cup in Australia where in group stage match against Saudi Arabia, Rashidov scored two goals, helping Uzbekistan win 3-1 and thereby qualifying for the quarter-finals.

Playing style
Sardor Rashidov is a smart attacking player well worth keeping an eye on. His understanding of the game is quite obviously on a high level. The Jaish forward knows how to time his runs behind the defensive line and is a deadly finisher.

Rashidov moves intelligently, even deep in his own half and is a versatile player, being used in a variety of positions for club and country too.   The main word to describe Rashidov is, influential; he is a game-changer and a consistent one at that.

In addition Sardor Rashidov is a purposeful dribbler without any urgent need to show off and make unnecessary step-overs. He’s predominantly a left footed shooter and he really knows how to use this not so secret weapon of his as well as getting himself into some promising positions with a burst of pace or quick one-two.

Finally, his shooting technique could hardly be any better. Often cutting in and shooting from distance with his powerful left foot. He isn’t too shabby at dead ball situations either.

First season at El Jaish
Rashidov has scored four goals in seven matches and provided one assist. His goals came against Al Sailiya in Round 2 where he also provided an assist for Hamdallah. In Round 5 he scored against Al Gharafa, and then two more came in the clash with Al Wakrah in Round 7.

Rashidov has started four out of seven matches so far this season, in the other three matches; he came on as a substitute. He has only played the full 90 minutes one time, but his playing time probably has more to do with making sure he doesn’t get injured than anything else.

He averages 50.4 minutes on the pitch so far this season and his ball retention is good, he creates chances and his passes into the penalty area are pretty high for a winger.

He has a recovery time of 44 seconds (time between 2 high intensity activities), which is decent for an attacking wide midfielder. His physical data on the radar graph (below) looks low but this is largely because so far he hasn’t played many full games, averaging just 50.4 minutes on the pitch this season.

Be sure to catch him this Saturday as the Soldiers take on Mesaimeer at Al Ahli stadium. Kick-off: 18:30
