Round 25 of the QSL season saw five players contribute to their teams with important late goals, here in our weeklyfeature  Stars of the League we highlight the five players who made the difference for their side.

Lekhwiya’s all-time top scorer Nam Tae Hee delivered the goods in second half stoppage time to insure that the Red Knights are the QSL champions for the fifth time in seven seasons. The South Korean international popped up on the 94th minute pouncing on a defensive error from Al Ahli. It’s been a standout season with Lekhwiya’s number 10, and a tally of 14 goals in the league represents his highest ever domestic haul.

Al Sailiya’s Romanian winger Valentin Lazăr makes the star of the league feature again, thanks to his key performance as the Peregrines halted Al Sadd’s title dreams with 2-2 draw on Thursday evening. Since joining in January Lazăr has contributed significantly for his side, and a well taken second goal of the season gives the loanee a deserved place on our standout players feature.

Al Gharafa secured a last gasp 2-1 win over El Jaish on Thursday evening, thanks to the head of Almahdi Ali. With the tie looking to be heading for a draw, Ali planted a header past Jaish keeper Khalifa Ababacar from a Vladimir Weiss cross to ensure that Gharafa picked up their third win in five QSL games.

Moroccan striker Mouhcine Iajour’s well take first half goal ensures that the Al Khor man gets his place on the Stars of the league list. Al Khor ensured their survival in the league for another week with a hard earned point against Al Shahania on Friday evening. Jean Fernandez’s side produced a defensive masterpiece in the second half to shut down Shahania who needed a win to keep their survival chances alive. Iajour has been one of Khor’s stand out performers this season and his eighth goal of the seasons enables the Knights to fight on in the league till the end of the season.

Umm Salal striker Yannick Sagbo grabbed a brace as the Orange Fortress drew 2-2 with already relegated Al Wakrah to close out the QSL weekend. The big Ivorian striker has been absent in recent weeks though injury for Umm Salal, and the former Hull City striker certainly made his presence felt with two goals of real quality. Umm Salal are now on a seven game undefeated streak in the league and head coach Mahmoud Jaber will be hoping that Sagbo can fire his side to glory again when Umm Salal take on Al Arabi in their final game of the season.
