Arrival to Wakrah
The Argentine striker arrived on Qatari shores at the start of the 2013/14 season. He caught the eye of Wakrah’s scouts after finishing joint-top scorer in the Chilean top division with 14 goals.

In his first season in the blue and white of Al Wakrah, he struggled to make an immediate impact but he endeared himself to the Waves faithful with his honest, hardworking approach to the beautiful game.

However in the second half of his first season in the QSL, the Argentine came alive eventually finishing with 18 goals, as he became the second top scorer in the league that year.

Playing style
This season Saez has seen his side struggle as they hovered over the relegation zone but a big win against Mesaimeer (4-1) in Round 9 of the QSL has seen them rise to 9th.  Saez was the main protagonist in the clash against the Torches, where he scored an important hat-trick to secure an important 3 points for the Waves.

Up to Round 9, Saez has so far bagged six goals and given two assists for his team.

Looking at his radar graph below (Provided by Prozone), his passing stats indicate that he doesn’t get involved in the build-up much but Al Wakrah are generally more of a counter attacking side.

So far this season, he has averaged 4 shots per game, which is on the high side for a forward, with 42% on target.

He also averages 0.9 goals per game so far this season for Wakrah. Last season he contributed to 32% of all Wakrah’s goals. He is considered a key player and on his day can be a lethal finisher.

Perhaps the most impressive side to his game is his physicality and fitness.  Saez ranks third for strikers that have covered the most distance at a sprint this season (after 8 rounds of action). His work rate is also very good for a striker and that is why, if Wakrah can start to get more of the ball and supply the Argentine, then perhaps Wakrah may stay out of the relegation zone.

Be sure to check him out today as the Waves take on Umm Salal at 4pm at Qatar Spots Club stadium.
