Qatar Sports Club’s new attacking signing Hamdi Harbaoui has been presented with the September Qatar Stars League player of the month award today at the club’s training ground.

The Player of the Month award recognizes the best Qatar Stars League player each month of the season. The recipient is chosen by the Competition and Football Development department according to statistical benchmarks set out at the beginning of the season.

The Tunisian signing has been a sensation for the Kings this season and has shown why the club made him their main summer target. Harbaoui is no stranger to goal, having previously been top scorer in the Belgian Pro League (22 goals).

The Tunisian has done what he does best scoring 4 goals in 3 appearances this month. He helped his team beat Al Khor (1-0), Shahania (4-0) and Sailiya (3-2). Thereby, moving the club from the bottom of the Qatar Stars League table all the way up to 5th spot.

His statistics this month have been most impressive, chief among them the 4 goals and 2 assist that means he directly contributed to 6 goals this season. 3 of which have been from inside the area and 1 from just outside.

The 29 year olds performance rating was very high (96%), which was higher than the previous winner Mojtaba Jabari (95%). He participated in 96.5% of the 3 matches this month which indicates his importance to the team.

Compared to the QSL average for attackers Harbaoui has a high sprint distance of 350 meters and an average recovery time of 38 seconds, this shows his fitness and strong work ethic. He contributes greatly with his pace and energy and keeps the back four of his opponents busy and stretched.

He receives 26 passes compared to the QSL average of 25, which means he is heavily involved in the build-up play of QSC and links up well with his teammates.

Over 3 games he has an average of 6 shots per game at goal with the majority being from inside the area, which is double the normal average for a QSL striker.

In round 6 the Kings will face Al Gharafa who themselves have improved markedly since the arrival of Brazilian tactician Marcos Paqueta. Yet with the Tunisian assassin at the peak of his powers the Kings might once again continue in their rich vein of form.
