Our featured match this Round sees a bottom of the table clash between Al Khor and Qatar Sports Club (QSC).  Although it might be a scrappy affair the match will be of interest as QSC is now under new management with Sebastião Lazaroni at the helm.

With both teams prone to mistakes this season and desperate for the three points, Friday’s match at Lekhwiya stadium at 18:30 proves to be an enticing match.

Al Khor Head Coach Jean Fernandez
“This is an important match for us. We want to win this game because we need our first three points. We are facing Qatar SC who is coming from their first win. So they have crossed that crucial hurdle. They will have more confidence than us. But we are searching for our first win.”
“Of course we are trying to find a balance in our team. When you don't win games that can have a negative impact on the mentality of the players. We have to take our first victory and also I want to say that Khor were in the same situation last season. We had a bad start and we got our first win only after 12 games. But we are preparing our team to take theIR first win because after that it will change things for us.”

“There are many solutions but the most important one is to keep working hard. It will also help if we can get lucky in some games.”

“I have confidence when I see how my players are working during training. When I see some games like Rayyan where we lost despite giving a good performance, I have the confidence that if we get our first win, we will do better.”

“We will play for a win and they will do the same. It's a game the result of which will hinge on a few details.”

Qatar SC Head Coach Sebastião Lazaroni
“This game is a six pointer. We must play it with a lot of concentration and treat it like a final. We know that Khor vs Qatar SC are always tough games. And both teams are like wounded animals now. They will fight back. We must prepare ourselves to play the best we can. Together with team work and team spirit we can find the solution to our problems. Khor are in a difficult situation too but they have good players. We must prepare better and we must do well in this match.”

“We have to continue to search for quality, continue to develop the team more and get more confidence and play better; only with quality can we get points. It will be a big challenge for us but we are ready for fight.”

“We have 25-26 players out of which two are injured. But I have 10 new players, some young and some foreign. I know Dagano but haven't seen his performance in a long time. It's very important for a striker to be ready. A lethal striker can disturb any team. Even if it's Lekhwiya or any other big team, so his presence will be good for us.”

On Mohsin Iajour
“We are together in this difficult period. I don't want to single out any player. Every player wants to perform. It's the same with Iajour. Step by step his performance is improving. He scored the penalty in the last game. I hope he can do better. And I hope the whole team improves their performance.”

On his current squad and compared with the Qatar Sports Club team that he coached before
"Life changes with every day. I am trying to understand the characteristics of my current players. Get them to play in their best position. What we did in the past counts for zero. What's important is that we look forward to the challenge that's facing us today and tomorrow."
