Already relegated Muaither close out round 25 of the QSL season with a match against Al Kharaitiyat. Stallions coach Phillipe Birol spoke with the local media ahead of the game.
Birol opened up the press conference noting that they must keep Kharaitiyat’s key man quiet to get the win.“We lost at the very last minute against Al Kharaitiyat last time out. We will be looking to change that result. Al Kharaitiyat have a strong player in Anwar Diba and we will need to keep him quiet in order to get a positive result.”
“We have missed a key striker at some points this season. However we have improved this season technically and despite being relegated my players have been shown great quality. My players have given 100% I am proud of the team” added the French tactician when asked to reflect on Muaither’s season.
Birol ended the press conference insisting that his Stallions side will fight to the very end of the season, despite being relegated. “I have set the players a target of ending the season on a high with at least one more victory. This will be for the management, fans and president who have showed faith in Muaither this year.
Al Kharaitiyat assured their survival in the QSL for another season with a 2-0 win over Al Ahli last time out. The Thunders are one of the form teams of the league at the moment, picking up four wins from their last five QSL games. Head coach Ahmad Al-Ajlani spoke to the media ahead of the match.
Al-Ajlani opened the press conference insisting that his side are prepared for the match against a already relegated side. “This game against Muaither will be a tough challenge for us, Muaither have showed they can be a difficult side for teams in the QSL. They will not give up and I am expecting a good match from both teams”
“The final two matches in the league will serve as preparation for the Emir Cup. Our aim from the final two games is to maintain our level in the league in-order to head into the Emir Cup in a positive mood” noted the Tunisian coach.
The Tunisian coach ended the press conference with a word of thanks to his players who all helped in aiding the Thunders beating the drop. “The players now have confidence and I hope we can continue this good form that we are in. I would like to thank all the players for their performances in recent weeks in the games and training. We are now looking to improve our ranking in the league from the last two matches.”
