Relegation threatened Muaither take on Al Sailiya in a must-win match for the Stallions. French tactician Phillipe Birol spoke with the local media ahead of the game.
Birol opened up the press conference revealing his excitement of the QSL getting back underway. “We are happy to resume the league. We had a good few weeks training, including two strong friendly performances my squad is now fresh and ready for the challenge of Al Sailiya on Saturday.”
The French coach also revealed that his side have a fighting chance to beat the drop. “Our aim now is to win are remaining matches and see what can happen. We have played well, and have enjoyed a good second half of the season. Many times we have missed key moments but we still have a fighting chance. We must enjoy these games and the experience in the league.”
Birol ended the press conversation stressing that his side needs some luck heading in to the final games of the season. “The luck has to come from the side, we have gone over many technical details with the players. I keep telling my players that we must enjoy, must keep working and hopefully this bad luck will turn in our favour.”
Al Sailiya registered a important 3-2 win over Al Gharafa last time out in the league. Peregrines boss Sami Trabelsi spoke to the media ahead of the Saturday evening game.
Trabelsi opened up the press conference noting that his side took full advantage in the break in QSL action. “We have tried to use the break to improve the side tactically; and prepare the side for the final games of the season and the cups.”
“Muaither are in trouble in the league, and will be looking to win. I am expecting a tough match and as ever, Al Sailiya will be looking for a positive result to improve our situation in the league. Mathematically we are still in trouble from the relegation zone, so the first priority is to secure survival. That is why three points are so important for my side” added the Tunisian tactician when asked about his Saturday evening opponents.
Al Sailiya’s coach ended the press conference with a word on Wagner, a player who will be missing the match through suspension. “Wagner is a good player for the side, he is fit and ready and has registered goals and assists for us. It will be a big blow that he is out, but we now have many players and will find a solution for this absence.”
