Round 23 of the season will see a spotlight match between a vastly improved side and the former QSL champions. Al Kharaitiyat will welcome QSL power houses Lekhwiya to the Al Khor stadium hoping to cause an upset against a team that has only lost one match this season.
Last time out, Al Kharaitiyat played an excellent game against Al Shahaniya as the Thunders won the game 3-1 thanks to two goals by Rachid Tiberkanine. Kharaitiyat haven’t lost a game in the past 4 matches and will be looking to continue this trend.

The Thunders are currently in eighth place in the QSL standings, and have twenty-five points from twenty two games.
If Ahmed Al Ajlani’s men are to grab an upset win, they will need Moroccan duo Rachid Tiberkanine and Anwar Diba to be on top form on Saturday. Tiberkanine grabbed a brace last time out against Shahaniya, and Diba also got his name on the score sheet in an all-important victory.
As for Lekhwiya, the former QSL champions are in second place equal on points with first placed Al Sadd, who are ahead on goal difference.
Djamel Belmadi’s side are coming into this game after playing out a draw in the AFC Champions League against Saudi side Al Fateh.

The Cops are heavy favorites to win this game as they possess all the firepower necessary to score goals. Moroccan sensation, Youssef Al Arabi is currently the joint top scorer in the league and he will need to provide a strong performance in order to get through Kharaitiyat’s resilient defense. Nam Tae-Hee and Youssef Msakni will also be under the spotlight as Lekhwiya will push for the three points to stay in the running for the title.

It certainly promises to be a fascinating encounter when Al Kharaitiyat take on Lekhwiya in the QSL spotlight match for round 23.
