Muaither will be looking to continue their upturn in fortunes when they take on Al Arabi on Saturday evening. French coach Phillipe Birol spoke to the local media ahead of the clash at Al Gharafa stadium.
Phillipe Birol opened up the press conference looking back at Muaithers previous match against Al Arabi “We won the last match against Al Arabi in the last seconds 2-1. They have a good team, and we have to take care of them. This match again is a six pointer for us, a win for us will pull my side closer to safety and that is what we are looking for.”
The French coach was also revealed his happiness on his sides 3-1 victory over Al Wakrah last time out.“The attitude and spirit is the most important. With this we can continue to believe in survival. It was the first match of the season that we scored three goals we know it will be difficult and tough to survive, but we will try.”
The Muaither boss ended the press conference talking up the fighting qualities of his side. “I’m proud of my players and how they have preformed. Nobody thinks that Muaither would survive at the start of the season, and here we are still fighting.”
As for Al Arabi, they are currently in ninth place in the QSL standings and will be targeting a win to pull away from the relegation battle. Brazilian coach Osvaldo Olivera spoke to the media ahead of the match.
Olivera opened up the press conference with a word on his opponents on Saturday evening at Al Gharafa stadium.“Muaither are a strong side, their league position does not do them justice. They defeated Al Arabi in the first half of the season and we will have to be ready for them. Muairther is a team that are very defined in the way that they play. They can cause problems for my team, but we have to neutralise their intentions we have a good chance of winning the game.”
“We are facing a difficult moment in our club, but I am trying to pull the club together in one direction so we have one goal on and off the field” noted the Brazilian coach at the pre match press conference on Thursday morning.
The Al Arabi boss ended the press conference with a word on his sides ambitions, and where his side can improve defensively. “We are not in a good position, but we are not in the danger zone. Now it is important from the remaining games we pick up as many points as possible to go up the table. Our team needs to be more compact in defence and be quicker in transition to attack and this is what we have been working hard on as a team.”
