The Qatar Stars League, Qatar’s highest professional football league welcomed a host of international journalists to watch the QSL clash between Umm Salal and current QSL league leaders Al Rayyan.

The journalists, mainly based from Japan and South Korea are currently in Qatar covering the AFC U23 championships. Both sides have progressed to the final of the championships in Doha, which is considered the second most important men’s competition after the AFC Asian Cup.

The invited media where treating to an enthralling QSL encounter which seen current QSL league leaders Al Rayyan prevail over Umm Salal 2-0 to maintain their impressive lead at the top of the QSL.

Speaking at the match, journalist Hideto Motoike of Nikkei Asian Review said. “It’s a great privilege to watch the Qatar Stars League. The quality of the football is good, and although we have been covering Japan at the AFC Under 23 championships, it’s nice to discover league football in Qatar.”

Japan is set to take on the Republic of Korea in the final of the AFC U23 Championship on Saturday the 30th of January at Lekhwiya stadium. The match will kick-off at 5:45 pm and tickets can be purchased online here.
