Thursday evening will see the final four games of 2016 as all eight clubs involved will be looking to end their season on a high.
The first game of the day will see Al Arabi take on Umm Salal in the QSL spotlight match for the round. Both sides are neck and neck in the QSL standings, and will be looking to outwit each other at Al Arabi stadium. Both sides come into the tie off the back of contrasting round 12 results, Al Arabi head into the clash off the back of a 3-0 Doha derby defeat to bitter rivals Al Rayyan, whilst Umm Salal will be looking to build on their 3-1 victory over Al Wakrah.
A struggling Muaither side will take on Al Ahli in the second game of the day. Phillipe Birol’s side are on a terrible run of five straight defeats in the QSL, and will be facing a Al Ahli side who have yet to win under returning coach Yusef Adam. Both sides will be hoping for the result to boost their survival chances going into the second half of the season.
Al Gharafa will take on Al Kharaitiyat in the third tie of the day. Both sides come into the match off the back of key wins in round 12 and confidence will be high in the respective camps. Fourth placed Al Gharafa picked up a vital 2-1 win over title contenders El Jaish, whilst relegation threatened Al Kharaitiyat edged out rivals Muaither 1-0. A win will do either side plenty of good heading into the winter break.
The final game of the year is the QSL match of the week, and will be a top of the table encounter which will see third placed El Jaish take on Al Sadd. Third placed Jaish are only two points behind their title rivals and Sabri Lamouchi will know that a win could see his side reclaim top spot. Whilst for Al Sadd they have been in superb form defensively during the month of December only conceding one goal in four games. Sadd coach Jesaldo Ferriera will be aiming for another clean sheet and three points to ensure the Wolves end 2016 on top of the QSL standings.
