Qatar National team coach  Daniel Carreño has called upon a host of QSL stars for Qatar’s final two games of a successful first round qualification campaign for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The Maroon’s are currently unbeaten and top group C.

Qatar will be taking on Hong Kong on Thursday evening at Al Sadd stadium, Ko 19:00pm and then on Tuesday the 29th of March a  tough away fixture against China, KO 15:15 (Qatari Time). QSL online has decided to take a look at a few key players for Al Anabi ahead of the crunch games.

Meshall Abdullah’s goal scoring form has given him a deserved place in Daniel Carreño's side. The veteran midfielder has been on fine goal scoring form this season, notching up sixteen goals for the Brigadiers. The attacker recently hit his 100th QSL goal against Al Arabi, and will be itching to be a part of the squad in the matches against Hong Kong & China.

Qatari International captain Hassan Al Haydoos is undoubtedly one of the key players for the Qatar national side.  He has contributed four goals so far in this qualification campaign two of which coming in the tricky away tie in Bhutan, which Qatar won 3-0.  In the QSL, Haydoos has been one of Al Sadd’s consistent performers this season notching ten goals for the Wolves.

Lekhwiya Defender Khalid Muftah has been a mainstay at club and international level this season. Muftah has had a part in all of Qatar’s qualification games to date. The left-back’s defensive displays have contributed to seven clean-sheets for his side this season. The four time QSL champion has also helped Lekhwiya going forward this year, grabbing three goals for his team.

Muftah will be expected to be at his defensive best when Qatar face Hong Kong & China, who are currently battling out for the second automatic qualification birth in group C.

Abdelkarim Hassan was one of Qatar’s key players at the recent AFC U23 tournament hosted in Doha. The powerful defender pushed the young maroon’s all the way to the semifinals, before being knocked out at the hands of the Korean Republic. Along the way, he notched four goals for his side.

In the QSL, Abdelkarim has been a regular for Al Sadd and will come into the international break on a high. The defender grabbed a late headed winner against rivals Lekhwiya last time out in a famous 3-2 victory.

Tickets for Thursday’s match against Hong Kong are available at Al Sadd stadium on Thursday.
