Al Sailiya hoping to register first points of the season against QSL champions
Saturday evening at Al Ahli stadium throws up an interesting clash between Al Sailiya and Al Rayyan. For the home side Al Sailiya they have yet to register a single point in the QSL so far. The Peregrines will be hoping they can get something from this tough match against the reigning QSL champions.
As for Al Rayyan they welcome head coach Michael Laudrup as head coach to the club for his first competitive game in charge. The Danish tactician previously lead Lekhwiya to a league and cup double in 2014 and he will be expected to make a strong start in his opening game.
Another interesting strand to this match will be the deadline day switch of Abdurahman Al Harazi from Al Sailiya to Al Rayyan. The Qatar youth international has been one of the Peregrines most promising young attackers in recent years, and a move to the champions will be a major blow for Sami Trabelsi.
Despite the loss of Al Harazi, Trabelsi will turn to summer signing Paul Efoulou for goals. The former Cameroonian international has looked lively in the opening games of the season, and the new signing will be desperate to open his account with his new side. Al Sailiya will also be hoping for a strong defensive performance against the champions, and Romanian international defender Dragos Grigore fresh from international duty will have to be on top form.
Michael Laudrup has only been with his new side for a week now, and will be hoping his efforts on the training pitch can transfer into his first match in charge. Laudrup will be relying on a familiar face from his time in Lekhiwya to kick-start his Rayyan career. Qatar international striker Sebastian Soria knows Laudrup’s training methods well and could be in line for a starring role in this match.
Likewise Al Rayyan’s talismanic captain and current top scorer Rodrigo Tabata will have to be on form for the Lions to grab all three points. The Qatar International had a relatively quiet last time out in the league in the draw against Umm Salal and will be eager to make amends, especially in front of his new head coach.
It certainly promises to be a fascinating tie between Al Sailiya and Al Rayyan when they play each other on Saturday the 15th of October, 19:40 KO at Al Ahli stadium. You can buy tickets for the match here.
