Saturday’s QSL action will involve four sides with top four aspirations come the end of the season. The early 16:00 KO sees Al Ahli take on Umm Salal at Al Ahli stadium. Both sides have endured a mixed start to the QSL season, and will be eager to grab all three points to push up the table.
Last time out for Al Ahli, they narrowly lost 2-1 to QSL champions Al Rayyan in what was Yusef’s Adams first match returning as head coach for the side. Adam will be hoping the strike partnership of Mubele and Meshal Abdulla can find the back of the net and register a first win for Adam on his return to the club.
As for the visitors Umm Salal they registered a 2-0 win over Al Kharaitiyat prior to the international break. The returing Yannick Sagbo with the brace gave the Orange Fortress all three points. Head coach Bülent Uygun will be expecting a big performance from young winger Helal Mohammed who has been lively in recent weeks.
The 18:10 KO will see two old rivals in Al Gharafa and Al Arabi face off at Al Gharafa stadium. Al Gharafa are unbeaten in four QSL games, and last time out registered a 2-0 win over bottom of the table Al Wakrah. Cheetahs head coach Pedro Caixinia admitted his side are on a fine run of form during Thursdays pre match press conference and will be targeting a statement win over Al Arabi.
Caixinia will be hoping that Slovakian winger Vladimir Weiss will be at his best following international duty. The former Lekhwiya attacker scored from the penalty spot against Al Wakrah last time out, and will be eager to build on his four goals so far this season.
As for the visitors Al Arabi they will be welcoming new head coach Edison Aguirre into the dug out for his first game in charge of the club. Al Arabi are currently hovering above the relegation zone in tenth place, and fell to a 2-1 defeat to newly promoted Muaither last time out.
Brazilian tactician Aguirre has only been training his side for a week now, but will be expected to make an impact against bitter rivals Al Gharafa. Aguirre will be hoping compatriot Paulinho can put in a captain’s preformance against the Cheetahs. The former Torino attacker has returned to full fitness recently and will be hoping he can change the fortunes of a struggling Dream Team side.
