Saturday’s opening QSL tie will see two sides that battled relegation last season. Al Wakrah will play Al Karaitiyat knowing that three points can kick start their QSL campaign in the 17:50 KO at Al Wakrah Stadium.

The hosts battled well in their opening clash of the season against El Jaish; unfortunately the Blue Waves came away with nothing after narrow 2-1 defeat. Head coach Mauricio Larriera will be hoping summer signing Pablo Olivera can continue his goal scoring from, after bagging in his debut against El Jaish.

As for the visitors, Al Kharitiyat suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Al Sadd. Head coach Amir Osim will have to rouse his squad ahead of this winnable clash. The Thunders will be looking to veteran defender Domingos who will have to be at the top of his game if Kharitiyat are to keep Al Wakrah at bay.

The round will come to a close when Al Gharafa, desperate to register their first points of the season take on a title chasing Lekhwiya outfit in the 20:00 KO at Al Gharafa stadium.

Al Gharafa fell to a 4-2 defeat to Al Ahli in the opening match of the season and head coach Pedro Caixinia will be expecting an improved defensive performance from his charges. This tie will also be the first time that Al Gharafa attacker Vladimir Weiss will face off against his former side Lekhwiya.

As for Lekhwiya they started their QSL campaign perfectly with a 4-0 win over newly promoted Muaither. Djamel Belmadi’s side is full of confidence and will fancy their chances against a leaky Al Gharafa defense.

It certainly promises to be a memorable second round of QSL action, full of excitement.
