Round 20 of the QSL season comes to an end of Saturday with two games that have consequences at both ends of the table.

The first match of the day will see relegation threatened Al Shahania welcome a out of form El jaish side to Al Arabi stadium. Igor Štimac’s Oryxes have drawn four of their last five QSL games and are in desperate need of a win to keep up with the other sides battling for survival in the QSL. Al Shahania should be in good spirits heading into the game, last time out they managed a impressive 1-1 draw with title chasing Al Sadd.

Whilst for El Jaish, they have endured a poor start to 2017 and Sabri Lamouchi’s boys have only won one game from a possible six in the new year. It’s also been a bad week for the soldiers after being eliminated from the AFC Champions League on penalties mid week. A win against Shahania would go some way in lifting the moral of the side.

The second game of the day will see second place Al Sadd welcome relegation threatened Al Wakrah to Al Sadd stadium. Jesaldo Ferriera’s side will be aiming to get over their penalty defeat in the Champions league, and know that only a win will do to pile pressure on the league leaders Lekhwiya.

As for rock-bottom Al Wakrah, time is running out in the season and the club from the south of Qatar and are in real danger of being relegated to the Qatar Gas League. Kais Yâakoubi’s side are now six points away from safety and will be looking to cause an upset against one of the most sucessful sides in QSL history.
