Umm Salal 1-1 Al Wakrah
Umm Salal continued their affinity for late drama when they earned another draw with a 93rd minute goal against Al Wakrah. Yannick Sagbo denied Wakrah the three point points as he pounced in the box.

In their previous match against Al Ahli, Salal escaped with a draw when Sagbo again came good and converted a penalty in the 88th minute.

Tonight’s clash was a busy affair in the first half, with both teams trying to establish their supremacy but neither succeeded. Umm Salal enjoyed more possession in dangerous areas and had a couple of attempts but they couldn’t make it count.

The second half started in the same way with neither team able to dominate possession. Salal again created chances, with Ismael Mahmoud getting one on the 63rd minute but it was well blocked by Wakrah keeper Enyas.

But the tone of the match changed in the 75th minute when Salal defender Silva conceded a penalty. The reply however showed it to be a most questionable decision as the men in Black, rightly felt hard done by.

Wakrah’s striker Sebastián Saez stepped up and had his shot blocked but the referee whistle for the retake as Jawad Ahnash move to early into the penalty box. The Argentine stepped up again and converted the chance to give his team the lead and get his seventh of the season (79’).

Salal searched desperately for the equalizer but struggled to create any clear cut chances. Mouhcine Moutouali – a key player for Wakrah came off the pitch and this gave Salal a slight advantage in the last ten minutes.

Wakrah looked to be closing out the game but a hopeful cross from the left courtesy of Silva in time added on, denied the men in Blue a vital three points as Sagbo’ s tapped in the equaliser from close range(90+3).

Salal has now got two consecutive draws but they won’t be complaining after a narrow escape from defeat. Al Wakrah on the other hand will be wondering what could have been after coming so close to a big win in Round 10.

Al Sailiya 5-0 Qatar SC
Qatar Sports Club’s fortunes show so sign of revival as they slumped to a 5-0 defeat to Al Sailiya at the home tonight. Faouzi Aaish scored a hat trick and Abdulkadir Ilyas helped himself to a brace as Sailiya comprehensively thrashed Qatar SC.

In their previous match Qatar SC were humiliated by Al Rayyan with a 9-0 drubbing. The Kings have now conceded 30 goals in just 10 matches and 14 of them have come in their last two games.

Once again QSC conceded early in the 13 minute when defender Mousa Allaq brought down Ilyas inside the box and a penalty was awarded without hesitation. Aaish didn’t have any trouble converting from the spot as the Peregrines took a deserved lead.

Qatar SC were chasing the game and this left gaps in midfield for Sailiya to exploit.  Midfielder Aaish scored again in the 23rd minute as Sailiya went into the break with a two goal cushion.

The second half was pretty much a repeat of the first half with Qatar’s players looking demoralised and visibly lacking confidence from the outset.

It took Aaish only six minutes to score his third of the match, Ilyas was again the provider.

Qatar SC Head Coach Sebastião Lazaroni made some tactical changes half way through the second half, key among them being, the addition of striker Mouhcine Iajour in place of Dagano.

With this change Qatar had a bit more of an attacking bite but the Kings couldn’t hold off Sailiya for long.

Ilyas Abdulkadir got on the scoresheet himself as he latched onto a through ball and scored his first in the 79th minute. Then in the 86th minute he got his second as he broke through Qatar’s defensive line, he rounded the keeper and smashed the ball into the net to the joy of peregrines fans inside the stadium.

The Kings will need to find a way to plug their defence or else relegation is looming on the horizon.

Sailiya will be happy that they have gotten this result, only their third win this season. It has helped them move a little farther away from the relegation zone.
