The Qatar Stars League, the highest professional football league in Qatar, today revealed the player ratings of local players who take part in the QSL.
This year, the top four local players where Al Sadd midfielder Hassan Haydoos, Lekhiwya goalkeeper Claude Amin, Al Sadd defender Abdulkarim Hassan and Al Arabi captain Boualem Khoukhi. All of the local players were judged on four key criteria for the season:
· Match Participation- Playing in QSL matches.
· Technical evaluation- according to statistics from Prozone.
· Attendance and professionalism
· Physical evaluation- With key fitness tests at Aspetar hospital.
Crucially the report shows a number of key signs that the level of skill with the local players is improving, and showing the development of the QSL. Last season 354 players where eligible for the evaluation, whilst for this year 398 where available an increase of 10%.
Crucially the level of the players evaluation category has improved compared to last year. A and B rated players have improved by 30% and 10% respectively, whilst C and D level players figures have dropped year on year by 10% and 5% respectively.
The shift towards higher evaluated players, underlines the hard work and dedication of the QSL sports team, who are looking to improve and raise the overall standard of the QSL league. The QSL season was concluded in April, with Al Rayyan being crowned champions for the first time in 21 years. Whilst in the Qatar Cup, El Jaish lifted the crown for the second time in their history.
