Lekhwiya will take on Al Sadd in a top of the table clash for the QSL match of the week for round three. Both sides have enjoyed undefeated starts in the league thus far and something will have to give on Sunday evening at Lekhwiya stadium.
The Red Knights have started the new campaign well, and have had no difficulty finding the back of the net scoring nine times in just two games. Summer signing Yusef Al Arabi has been central to Lekhwiya’s new found attacking prowess this season, and will be expected to make an impact in this clash.
Lekhwiya will also have a host of players returning from international duty including eight players who have represented the Qatar national team. So expect head coach Djamel Belmadi to shuffle his squad slightly for this match. One player who could benefit from some changes could be attacker Mohammed Muntari who could be in line for a start, should Belmadi elect to rest his international stars.
As for Al Sadd, they have started the league campaign on the front foot. Two early wins against Al Kharitiyat and Al Ahli have kept the spirits high at the club. Summer signing Jugurtha Hamroun looks to have settled well, and has already struck up an understanding with team-mate Bagdad Bounjah.
The wolves will have to be defensively strong against this free scoring Lekhwiya side and defender Abdulkarim Hassan, fresh from duty with the Qatar national team maybe called upon by head coach Jesualdo Ferreira. Hassan will be needed in both defense and attack for his side with the left back prone to surging runs, which could unlock the Lekhwiya defense.
