Round 21 of the QSL season will see second placed Al Sadd take on Al Arabi in the QSL match of the week.

Al Sadd registered an impressive 3-1 win over rock-bottom Al Wakrah last time out, and simultaneously closed the gap on title rivals Lekhwiya to just three points after the league leaders drew with Al Rayyan 1-1. Wolves midfielder Xavi grabbed a brace in the game, and the former Barcelona midfielder is only one goal away from registering his most goals in a league season, a tally of ten goals.

Jesaldo Ferriera will be hoping that his midfield can contain an Al Arabi side that has been growing in confidence in recent weeks. Qatar international player Sami Kasola could be given a start in midfield, with the aim of trying to breakdown Al Arabi in the center of the park. Kasola has moved into midfield from defense this season, and is one of the major reasons that Al Sadd has only dropped four points on home turf so far this season.

As for Al Arabi, they picked up a shock 2-0 win over Al Gharafa to further relieve their relegation woes. Osvaldo Olivera’s boys are now in seventh place in the QSL standings with a tally of 23 points from 20 games. After a patchy start under the Brazilian coach, it seems that the Dream Team has turned a corner and will be targeting back to back wins for only the second time this season.

Summer signing Luis Jiménez was arguably Arabi’s standout player against Al Gharafa, contributing with the opening goal of the match. The former Chile international has been a mainstay in midfield this season, and will be looking to add to his eight goals he has scored so far in the league.

It certainly promises to be an interesting encounter when title chasing Al Sadd takes on an improving Al Arabi side for the QSL match of the week for round 21. You can pick up a season ticket to watch the match here.
