Al Rayyan take on El Jaish in the QSL match of the week for round four, which will see a clash between two title contenders who have yet to fall to defeat in the league this season. Both sides will be looking to establish their early title credentials in what promises to be a tight encounter.
Last time out, Al Rayyan where denied all three points against ten man Al Sailiya, eventually sharing the points with a 1-1 draw in what was head coach Michael Laudrups first game in charge. It was the Lions second consecutive draw in the league and leaves them in fifth place in the QSL standings.
Laudrup has only had two weeks with the side, many of whom where away on international duty and will be eager to register his first win in charge. One player who would have impressed the Danish coach would have been young Qatari winger Abdulrahman Al Harazi.
The former Al Sailiya man played well in his second half substitute appearance and looked lively on the right wing, creating plenty of chances for his new side. Al Harazi could be in line for a start against El Jaish.
As for the visitors El Jaish, they are deep into preparations for their AFC Champions League semi-final clash against Al Ain. However in the league, Jaish have registered three wins from three in the QSL and are currently sitting at the top of the table following their 1-0 win over Al Khor on Thursday evening.
Sabri Lamouchi rang in the changes for the El Jaish against Al Khor including sidelining influential midfielder Seidou Keita completely for the game. However the side, which included a mixture of fringe players took the lead from a Romarinho penalty and held on for all three points.
El Jaish are likely to turn to Brazilian defender Lucas Mendes for their match against the reigning QSL champions. The no nonsense center back is Sabri Lamouchi’s first choice in the big games, and will be expected to start. Mendes has contributed to Jaish’s solid defensive start to the season in which they have only conceded three goals from three QSL matches.
