Derby bragging rights on the line between Rayyan & Al Arabi

Round 25 of the QSL season will see Al Rayyan take on Al Arabi in a derby encounter at Al Sadd stadium, the match is set to Kick-off on Thursday the 6th of April at 20:30pm.

Both sides come into the game off the back of heavy defeats in the league and will be looking to get back to winning ways. Al Rayyan fell to a 4-1 defeat to rivals Al Sadd in the Qatar Clasico, and head coach Michael Laudrup will see this match as the ideal encounter to boost the confidence of his side.

Al Rayyan will be without two key midfielders for the derby, with Daniel Goumou absent after seeing red against Al Sadd and South Korean midfielder  Koh Myong-jin is likely to be absent through injury. Laudrup may also elect to make changes in defense and attack especially with a tough away assignment coming up against Persepolis in the AFC Champions League.

Whilst for Al Arabi, they are in danger of slipping into the relegation zone if they lose their next two games of the season. Osvaldo Olivera’s side has been patchy in the league thus far and will be in desperate need of a win to confirm their status in the league for another season. Nigerian striker Imoh Ezekiel has been the standout player for The Dream Team this term, and the international will have to be at his best if Arabi are to upset their bitter rivals Al Rayyan.

Friday’s game between two of Qatar’s most popular side certainly promises to be of interest when Al Rayyan take on Al Arabi on Thursday evening. You can pick up tickets for the match here.
