The QSL match of the week for round six will see Al Rayyan take on Al Ahli, with both sides looking to push up the QSL standings.
Al Rayyan registered their first win under Danish head coach Michael Laudrup in round five with a convincing 3-1 win over Al Kharaitiyat. The result leaves the Lions in fourth place in the QSL standings, and is one of four sides who have yet to taste defeat this season.
Michael Laudrup will be encouraged that both attackers Sebastian Soria and Sergio Garcia scored against Al Kharaityat and will be hoping for more of the same against an Al Ahli side who have improved defensively.
Now Al Rayyan are four points of the pace from the top of the table, and certainly will be targeting a victory, especially now that Al Ahli are currently without a head coach.
As for the visitors Al Ahli, they parted ways with Croatian head coach Luka Bonačić following a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Al Khor. The brigadeers are expected to announce a replacement in the coming days, who will only have a few days to prepare his side.
Whoever steps into the vacancy at Al Ahli, will be hoping for a big performance from striker Firmin Mubele. The D.R Congo man was quiet by his high standards against Al Khor, and will be eager to impress the new man in charge. Mubele will certainly be expected to be amongst the goals again, especially against an Al Rayyan sides who has failed to keep a clean sheet in three weeks.
Certainly promises to be a must watch encounter when the reigning QSL champions Al Rayyan take on manageress Al Ahli in the QSL match of the week for round six.
