Qatar Sports Club 2 Umm Salal 2

Kings leave it late to save a point.

Qatar Sports Club left it till the 95th minute to grab a vital point in their quest to beat the drop drawing 2-2 with Umm Salal on Friday evening. The Kings have new winter signing Emiliano Vecchio to thank, as he slotted away a penalty in the 95th minute of the tie, effectively saving the points for his side.

Umm Salal started the better side in the encounter and pressed Qatar SC back for long periods of the first half. Eventually Umm Salal took a deserved lead on the 38th minute. Salal’s new winter signings lined up well to break the deadlock for Bülent Uygun’s team.

New signing Sanzhar Tursunov played through an inch perfert pass to  Mounir El Hamdaoui who had time and space to flick the ball over the oncoming keeper, the first half ended 1-0 to Umm Salal.

In the second half, Qatar SC pushed for a foothold in the match. However it was the Orange Fortress who doubled their lead on the 68th minute. Ivorian striker Yannick Sagbo calmly slotted away from the penalty spot for his twelfth goal of the season. Umm Salal should of seen out the tie. However they let their rivals back into the match in the 85th minute.

Umm Salal Coach Bülent Uygun will be frustrated that his defense didn’t clear the ball. However midfielder Fadil Omar seemingly danced his way through the Salal defensive line to slot past Salal stopper Baba Malick to give his side a lifeline.  2-1 Game on.

Qatar Sports Club completed their dramatic comeback on the 95th minute. Argentine playmaker Vecchio kept his nerve from the penalty spot to give Sebastiao Lazaroni’s side a share of the spoils, much to the frustration to Salal coach Bülent Uygun.
