Al Arabi took on Al Wakrah on Sunday evening at Al Arabi stadium with both sides looking to continue their preparations ahead of the third round of action. Both sides shared four goals, with the match ending in a 2-2 draw. Strangely, it was Al Wakrah players who scored all the goals in the tie. Both Johar Al Kaabi and Mohammed Al Sulaiti turned the ball into their own net giving Al Arabi the lead.
Thankfully Mauricio Larriera’s side found their way back into the match in the second half. Al Sulaiti was on hand to score in the right end this time, and Moroccan midfielder Mouhcine Moutouali struck to give the Blue Waves the draw. Both sides will now continue their preparations in the break of QSL action.
Ahli downed by Al Shamal
QSL side Al Ahli fell to a 2-1 defeat to the hands of Qatar Gas League side Al Shamal. Head coach Luka Bonačić used the tie to focus on the fitness of his squad. All three goals came in the first half, with Ahli scoring through captain Meshal Abdullah on the tenth minute.
Al Ahli will entertain Al Wakrah on Saturday the 15th of October once the QSL resumes after the international break.
