Friday’s QSL action involves four sides who have Qatar Cup aspirations come the end of the season. The opening game on Friday will see two undefeated sides clash at Lekhwiya stadium.

Second placed El Jaish will take on Umm Salal in the early 17:20pm KO. Jaish dropped points last time out to reigning QSL champions Al Rayyan and will be hungry to get back to winning ways. Sabri Lamouchi’s side has been boosted by the return of Abdulgadir Ilyas from loan and the big striker could be needed to take on an Umm Salal backline which are hard to breakdown.

As for Umm Salal they have yet to taste defeat this term and currently sit in sixth place with six points from four QSL games. Last time out, Bülent Uygun’s side had a bore 0-0 draw with Al Sailiya and will at least be targeting at least another point against title challengers El Jaish.

Umm Salal are currently sweating on the influential duo of Anderson Martins and Mohammed Helal and could be absent for this tie. One midfielder the Orange Fortress will be counting on is Ismail Mahmoud, the fiery midfielder will have to be at his all action best if Umm Salal are to get the win.

The late KO is the QSL match of the week, which will see Lekhwiya take on Al Arabi at Lekhwiya stadium. The Red Knights are in fine form at the moment, and are fresh from a 3-2 win over Al Wakrah. Djamel Belmadi will be counting on midfielder Luiz Martin to perform in the center of midfield.

As for Al Arabi, they will be looking for a statement victory against Lekhwiya especially after falling to a 2-0 defeat against Al Ahli in the derby. Gerardo Pelusso’s side have registered two defeats and two wins so far this term, and will be aiming to push into the top four picture.

One player Pelusso can turn to is Nigerian international Imoh Ezekiel. The speedy attacker has looked lively in recent weeks and will be poised to make an impact for his side against one of Qatar’s most successful teams.
