Al Duhail’s Moroccan spearhead Youssef El Arabi is way ahead of others in the list of top scorers after the QNB Stars League’s Round 7 action even though he did not score and his tally stood at 11 goals.
When El Arabi was off-colour, his Tunisian strike partner Youssef Msakni stole the show with two goals and one assist in Al Duhail’s 4-2 victory over Al Khor. The Red Knights not only stayed on top of the standings, but scored the most number of goals too.
Al Sailiya playmaker Wagner Ribeiro occupied the second position with seven goals after his brace in their crucial win over Umm Salal that helped The Peregrines displace The Orange Fortress from the fourth place. He also showed 100 per cent shot accuracy.
Msakni is now on six goals along with Al Sailiya’s Temurkhuja Abdulkholikov, while Abderrazak Hamdallah, Sebastian Soria, Rodrigo Tabata (all Al Rayyan), Yannick Sagbo (Umm Salal) and Madson (Al Khor) have five each.
Al Sadd’s Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah scored in their 2-1 victory over Al Ahli to take his tally to four.
Meanwhile, Al Sadd’s Qatar international Hassan Al Haidous emerged as the player who has given the most assists (five).
He is followed by Abderrazak Hamdallah (Al Rayyan), Mahmoud Mawaz (Umm Salal), Nam Tae-Hee and Youssef Msakni (both Al Duhail) with four each. Next in the list is Al Sailiya’s Valentin Lazar (three).
Baghdad, his compatriot and Al Sadd team-mate Jugurtha Hamroun, Almoez Ali (Al Duhail) and Kwame Karikari (Al Markhiya) all have provided two assists each.
Round 7 saw 20 goals being scored compared to 16 in the previous week. There were 12 assists, 157 shots, 62 shots on target, two penalties, 16 yellow cards and two red cards (Qatar SC’s Michael Babatunde and Umm Salal’s Maher Youssef).
The total number of passes per game was 480.9, of which 398.2 were successful.
The Al Duhail vs Al Khor game was the highest-scoring (six goals) one followed by Al Sailiya vs Umm Salal (five). Two matches were drawn (Al Gharafa vs Al Markhiya and Al Kharaitiyat vs Al Arabi).
