The Qatar Stars League round 12 matches witnessed 4 draws, 3 victories and 15 goals. The biggest score line of the weekend’s action was the 3-1 victory for Al-Sadd over El Jaish. Brazilian player Tabata scored two goals and Hassan Al-Haydoos scored one from the penalty spot, before El Jaish replied with a consolation goal through defender Lucas Mendez.

Al Sadd had the lion’s share of the possession especially during the second half through Tabata, Nadir Belhadj, Ali Assad and Hassan Al-Haydoos. El Jaish came back strong towards the end of the match when the head coach fielded Wissam Rizq and the Brazilian Romarinho. 

This result assured Al-Sadd continued domination on the league with 10 victories, 4 of which are in the last 5 games, and no defeats. For El Jaish however this is their 3rd defeat within the last 5 matches.

This week also witnessed Al-Sailiyah beating Al-Arabi 2-1. Al-Arabi was leading by a goal scored by Ashkan Dejagah, but then Al-Sailiyah equalized Moussa Al-Baraka scored an own goal. This was then followed by the decisive goal scored by player Al-Harazi.

Al-Sailiyah is now level on points with Al-Arabi as they both have 14 points each. It was Al-Sailiya’s 3rd win in the last 5 matches, whilst it was the 3rd defeat for Al-Arabi in the last 5 games.

Lekhwiya drew with Al Ahli when player Ismail Mohamed scored both goals for Lekhwiya, whilst players Meshal Abdullah who was injured and substituted during the first half (head injury) and Alain Dioko scored for Al Ahli. 

The match was a tough affair and full of excitement because both teams were looking to win. It was Lekhwiya’s 3rd draw in the last 5 matches, whilst it was the 1st draw for Al Ahli in the last 5 matches.

The bottom of the table clash between Al-Shamal and Al-Shahania ended in a draw (1-1). The match saw Al-Shahania take the lead with a goal by Masoud Shojaie in the 52nd minute before Al-Shamal equalized though Ali Mijbil in the 84th minute.

This result was Al-Shamal’s 4th draw whilst it was Al-Shahania’s 2nd draw in their last 5 matches. With this draw Al-Shahania is second bottom with 6 points, ahead of Al-Shamal who is last with just 4 points.

Al-Wakrah vs Al-Khor witnessed a draw that didn’t satisfy the ambition of Al-Wakrah who was trying to pull away from the relegation zone.

Al-Wakrah has only gained 1 point for their last 5 matches with 1 draw and 4 defeats. Whilst Al-Khor currently lies in 10th place.

Al-Kharaitiyat lost to Al-Gharafa but is still five points ahead of Al-Wakrah and one point away from Al-Sailiyah and Al-Arabi. This is their second draw in the last 5 matches.

Both Qatar Sports Club and Umm Salal missed their chances to enter the top four after the match finished goalless. If Qatar had won, they would have passed El Jaish and gone into fourth place. On the other hand if Umm Salal had won, they would have been on the same points as El Jaish.

Umm Salal has had some good form in the last 5 matches with 3 victories and 2 draws. Whilst for Qatar SC, this was their second draw in their last 5 matches.

It is clear from the outcome of round 12 of Qatar Stars League that Al-Sadd is starting to pull away from the chasing pack with 32 points. With just 3 rounds left the Wolves could potentially go unbeaten in the first half of the season.

Lekhwiya has 27 points and Al-Gharafa who is in third has 23 points. At the other end of the table Al-Shamal was unable to gain their first win in the league so far.

Al-Shahania and Al-Wakrah both have the leakiest defenses having conceded the most in the league, whilst Umm Salal’s defense is the best with only 8 goals conceded.
