Qatar SC welcomed Al Shamal to the Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium this evening for the round 21 Qatar Stars League fixture.

Qatar was looking to take full advantage of yesterday’s draw between Jaish and Al Khor as the boys in yellow and black eyed up third place.

Shamal managed to reach half time without conceding and looked resolute and focused as they went into the tunnel.

Ali Mejbel looked to have given the Musketeers the perfect start in the second half as his timed run found him one-on-one with the keeper. The front man managed to just squeeze the ball under keeper Mohmad Mubark Dawood (48’).

Then QSC went up a couple of gears and Hamdi Harboui, the league’s second top scorer got his 16th goal of the season.  The ball was crossed in from the left and the Tunisian got a head to it with his angled run (54’).

The game was now finely poised as the two sides were desperate for the tree points but for different reasons. Shamal are still yet to win a match in the Qatar Stars League.

QSC started to dominate possession (63%) as they pressured with wave after wave of attack. Shamal looked to have shut out the game but a last attack by QSC was not dealt with properly.

The ball fell to the Korean, Yong who played a clever one-two with Mousa Majid Allaq before turning and hitting first time to give the Kings the tree points they so clearly deserved.

The Kings didn’t make it easy for themselves but yet again they are showing why they are deserving of 3rd place as they battle to the end and didn’t give up.
