Earlier in the day, former champions Al Gharafa on Sunday grabbed a point off second-placed El Jaish in a controversy-marred round 18 clash.

Krisztian Nemeth slipped one home from close range to help Al Gharafa equalise in the 87th minute of the tense match At Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.

Earlier, Abderrazzaq Hamed‐allah opened the scoring for El Jaish in the 7th minute. Nemeth equalized for Al Gharafa in the 61st minute.

In the 72nd minute, substitute Romario Ricardo Silva fired home a free-kick that went through the hands of Al Gharafa goalkeeper Qasem Abdulihamed Burhan.

After a few tense exchanges, Al Gharafa found the back of the El Jaish net when Nemeth wrapped a neat move orchestrated by Abulrahmman Fayez Alrashidi.

The goal immediately sparked shoving and pushing among Al Gharafa and El Jaish players. The referee and match officials had to intervene to keep tempers at bay.
