The friendly match between Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan ended with the French team winning 1-0. The Al Sadd Stadium, where the match was being held, was packed to the brim with an official attendance of 11,628.

PSG scored towards the end of the first half through Jean-Kevin  Augustin and then held on for a win. With this win PSG have won the two-match friendly series 2-0. The previous match was in Marrakesh last year and that too ended with a similar scoreline.

PSG with their superstars were the stronger team on paper and they were the ones controlling the match. The start of the match saw them dominating possession. Blaise Matuidi had an early shot on goal but Inter keeper Samir Handanovic was able to save it. The keeper had a tougher save to make when PSG star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic fired in a shot from close range but Handanovic was able to tip it over the bar.

Most of the shots in the first half came from PSG with Inter looking to attack on the counter. Inter’s Martin Montoya had a shot at goal in the 17th minute but it was comfortably punched away by PSG keeper Kevin Trapp. PSG had the better chances with Zlatan getting header off a corner but it was a weak one and save by Handanovic. In the 28th minute Marco Verrati, getting a pass from Zlatan, fired a strong shot but the ball hit the post.

Zlatan and Matuidi were linking up well, causing lots of trouble for the Inter defence. In the 40th minute, there was a shout for penalty when Matuidi fell twice inside the box but the referee didn’t give it. But then just as the first half was drawing to an end, PSG finally converted their possession into a goal.

Zlatan was again in the mix as he passed to Verrati who gave a great pass to Augustin who calmly slotted in it. PSG had the lead they were looking for.

The second half saw a host of changes with many players being substituted by both teams. Inter played with more intent in the second half and had an early chance through Stevan Jovetic. But it was a very acute angle and Trapp was able to cover it.

PSG coach Laurent Blanc, looking to give the rest of his squad a chance took off star striker Zlatan and midfielder Verrati in the 65th minute. Both teams created a couple of chances after that but none were really threatening.

The French team were the deserved victors, after having comfortably controlled the tempo of the match.

The friendly match has lived up to anticipation with the fans getting to see their stars in action on the field. A memory that everyone who was present will cherish.
