Al Kharaitiyat will take on Al Khor in a relegation six pointer at Al Khor stadium on Sunday evening. Both teams will be looking to get the three points to improve their survival chances.

Al Kharaitiyat currently has twenty-three points from twenty-three games leaving them just one point above the drop zone. After a positive draw against Al Gharafa they are not willing to take any chances in the final three games.

Amar Osim, the head coach of Al Kharaitiyat had this to say about the upcoming match, “They have five more points than us. So they are in a better situation than us but this has been a funny season in which any team can beat the other.”

He also talked about Al Khor’s attacking prowess, “Even without Julio Cesar they won games. So now we need to make sure we keep Marco Antonio out of the game as he is a very dangerous player,” added the Bosnian.

“From beginning of the season we have the average of 1 point per game. We never had a very comfortable position. At some point we had 17 points after 14 games. We never expected to be in this situation in the start of the league. But this is football, you can’t predict how things are going to go,” said the forty-eight-year-old coach at the press conference on Thursday.

Al Khor has a five point lead over rivals Al Kharaitiyat in the QSL standings. They have twenty-eight points from twenty three games, leaving the Knights in tenth place.

Jean Fernandez, the head coach of Al Khor, spoke about the tough nature of the league and how his team has improved over the course of this season. “One problem with Al Khor is that we have very tough games coming up. Once we finish one difficult game we have another one.”

“We will be having an eye on the other games because the result for the other games is important to us. But now our destiny is in our hands as we need more points to feel comfortable,” added the Frenchman.

Speaking about the preparation over the international break Fernandez said, “The preparation was very good because of our last victory against Mesaimeer we feel more secure. We gave the team some rest days to relieve stress. But now we are back with full force. Even Hee Do Park, the new Korean player, who had a good game against Mesaimmer had 15 days to adapt to the team because of the international break,” added the sixty-one-year-old.
