Al Ahli take on Al Shahania on Tuesday evening, knowing that a win can boost their survival hopes no end. Al Ahli boss Yusef Adam spoke to the media ahead of the game.

Opening up the press conference Adam stressed the importance of the game at Al Ahli stadium “Teams are now close in the standings. It’s a six pointer against Al Shahania and we have pushed the players this weeks to win the game.”

“Al Shahania have played well, and have made the league more competitive. We need to be ready for this side. Who have put in some impressive performances for a promoted team” added the Qatari head coach.

Al Ahli started the season targeting the top four, however recent results means that the Brigadiers have changed their priorities. “The league season is long, and we have to be patient in terms of the top four, but our main aim is to avoid the relegation and not be in danger this season.”

Yusef Adam’s side are without a win in six QSL games but despite this the Qatari coach insists that his side are stable. “The team is preforming well, sometimes you play well and you cannot win. However everyone at Al Ahli is together, enthusiastic and the team moral is strong.”

Ending the press conference, Adam called for focus from his side who have conceded a host of late goals in recent weeks. “We need to maintain our focus right until the end of the game, that is why we have conceded goals in the last minutes.”

Al Shahania head into the match against Al Ahli without a win in five QSL games. Head coach Jose Fernando revealed his thoughts to the local media ahead of the match.

Opening up the press conference, Fernando reflected on his sides 2-1 defeat to fellow strugglers Al Arabi; “I feel that we should have got a result against Al Arabi, against Al Ahli we must pick up some more points in order to survive.”

Despite losing against Al Arabi the Portugeese coach is happy with his sides moral heading into the Al Ahli clash; “The performances and behaviour of the team is good. This shows confidence and will be important later on in the season for us.”

Fernando ended the press conference reflecting on the league overall, stressing that picking up points was his sides main priority. “The league is very equal this season, we have five or six teams fighting for survival. In terms of a points tally for the first half of the season, we do not have one. All that matters is that we have enough points to survive at the end of the season.”
