Al Sailiya managed to frustrate league title hopefuls Al Sadd with a 1-1 draw at the Jassim bin Hamad stadium yesterday evening.<br />
<br />
The visitors Al Sailiya who last season were the talk of the town with their 4th placed finish have struggled this season. The Peregrines have found the Qatar Stars League tough going and knew that they couldn’t afford to lose this round 8 fixture.<br />
<br />
But things got off to a bad start for Trabelsi’s men when on the 8th minute Hassan Haydoos made no mistake and fired home the game’s opener.<br />
<br />
And that’s how it stayed for the first half.<br />
<br />
After the restart however, Al Sailiya finally had a bit of luck when Sadd central defender Lee Jung-Soo put the ball in the back of his own net (46’).<br />
<br />
This proved to be the lifeline for Al Sailiya who held on with all their might for the draw.<br />
Late on both teams had chances to put the game to bed but they failed to find that killer instinct in front of goal.<br />
<br />
Things then went from bad to worse for Lee Jung-Soo, who had already scored an own goal. The Korean defender was then sent off for a second bookable offence.<br />
<br />
Al Sadd looked sluggish and may have suffered from the international break in mid-October because many of their first team players also represented the national team. Al Sadd are now in Second place with 20 points.<br />
<br />
For Sailiya the result means that they stay just outside the drop zone in 12th spot but move a point ahead of Al Shahania.
