20:20 kick-off at Al Wakrah Stadium

Qatar SC face Al Khor in Round 1 (Group B) of the 2021-2022 season Ooredoo Cup at the Al Wakrah Stadium on Sunday.

Al Gharafa, Al Arabi and Al Sailiya are the other teams in Group B of the tournament, which features 10 teams this time, five in each group.

Qatar SC handed the coaching job to Brazilian Ze Ricardo for the next two seasons. He took up the reins from Younes Ali, who guided The Kings to the sixth position in the league last season (2020-21).

Ze Ricardo is considered as an eminent coach, having previously trained a number of Brazilian clubs, namely Internacional, Botafogo, Vasco da Gama, Fortaleza and Flamengo.

Younis Ali has replaced Icelander Heimir Hallgrimsson as Al Arabi coach in the new season.

Al Khor, meanwhile, retained the services of German Winfried Schafer.

Al Khor finished 11th in the 2020-2021 season QNB Stars League, above relegated side Al Kharaitiyat, and they had to defeat Al Shahania 3-1 in the Play-Off to retain their place in this season’s QNB Stars League.

The Play-Off pits the 11th-placed team in the QNB Stars League against runners-up in the Second Division.

Qatar SC’s campaign in the 2021-2022 season Ooredoo Cup had ended in the group stage, having finished fifth in Group A, while Al Khor had progressed to the quarterfinals as runners-up from Group A. However, The Knights lost 0-1 to beaten finalists Al Rayyan in the last eight.
