Al Duhail coach Christophe Galtier spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 22 match against Al Khor.
“Our last difficult victory over Al Arabi gave us a morale boost and some hope ahead of the final round, despite the physical difficulties we faced. The chances are very slim and as I mentioned to the players, we must win first and then wait for the result of the Al Sadd and Al Ahli match. Any surprises may occur.
“Anything is possible in football, whether it is a win, a draw or a defeat. These are the results of football. If Al Ahli beat Al Sadd and we beat Al Khor, we will win the league and be champions. But as I mentioned, we must first win against Al Khor and then focus on the next match. If we win the title, of course, we deserve it, and if Al Sadd do it too, they deserve it. The players must realize that they have a chance to win,” said Galtier.
Al Duhail player Ahmed Abdelmaqsoud said, “We had hoped to play the final match with full focus on this one game alone. Unfortunately, in football, you cannot control everything. Some people think the match against Al Khor will be easy, but I assure you that it is not, and it is a very difficult match.
“It is a mistake to focus on other matches. I believe that during the season, we and Al Sadd are the two best teams, and even if we lose the league, winning the Qatar Cup and Amir Cup, in addition to the QSL Cup, would be a huge gain for us.”
